Standing leg behind head pose overview

This is a natural progression of the single leg behind head pose. Instead of being seated the contortionist with their leg behind their head will come to a standing position. This is more advanced that the seated variation as it requires much more hip and hamstring flexibility in the leg that is behind the head. When doing the easier pose seated the back is able to round forwards more meaning there is less demand on the hip and hamstring. A good intermediary step is to anchor the free leg under wall bars, or a bed frame and slowly flatten out the back, pushing against the active leg. It is key to do this slowly and only after your hips are well warmed up as pushing too hard to quickly may result in injuries to the knee.
